3 days ago the deadline for LibreLocal funding applications passed. And "if you want funding for your meetup," the FSF or Heshan de Silva-Weeramuni wrote, "you have to apply by this Sunday, March 15, 2026."
The FSF has had a good year funding-wise. The prior year it was OK, but this past winter was a lot better. Many people join and there are large anonymous donors as well.
There are also efforts to partner with the FSF. "I’m still waiting to hear back from the FSF regarding LibreLocal," one reader told us this week, "since I’d really like to strengthen our connection with them. It’s been about a week, but hopefully someone there will reach out soon..."
LibreLocal isn't entirely new, but it seems to be growing. It helps raise awareness of Software Freedom.
