Most Press Articles About IBM Are LLM Slop, Sometimes With Slop Images
IBM basically laid off almost 1,000 people last week. Not a single news site mentioned this. We saw one slopfarm mentioning that in passing, but it wasn't journalism about IBM, it was just slop (machine-generated text) with CG images (fusion). 2 hours ago we saw Pakistani media saying: "Over time, other software development companies have been restructuring, including IBM, which has replaced human roles in human resources & back-office functions with AI and automation."
This is actually slop about slop. The image is also slop. It's a fake article with unverified claims (IBM spin), basically IBM trying to twist commercial failure and mass layoffs as "hey hi".
At the moment about 75% of the 'articles' we see about IBM (in recent days) are some kind of slop, so actual news won't get covered, let alone investigated.
Some hours ago someone commented on the scale of layoffs at IBM, once acquisitions are deducted from the tally:
IBM isn’t lying when they say low single digits worldwide. Where it gets interesting is when you apply the numbers regionally. The 2700 number referenced in the article was dated in Nov of 2025. I would speculate the 2700 was applied almost exclusively to NA [North American] thus making the layoff approx 5% when it came to NA. Add in another 1k of acquired new hires (SW purchases like Hashi every couple of months and you are up close to 10-12% of legacy employees getting laid off and the new SW hires backfilling). IBM seems to ping pong the layoffs. NA one time then Europe the second. The net of this is Yes its low single digits per layoff, BUT with multiple layoffs per year they are hitting 6-8k total worth of folks per year and 8-10 K worth of legacy employees per year with back filling via SW purchases
IBM does not buy companies ("SW purchases") for their people, it needs their revenues to fake 'growth' where none exists. It then guts their products to squeeze their customers, like Broadcom did with VMware. █
