  • Finding My Base Tone

    The last week has been difficult and the coming weeks might very well be worse. At lunch on my WFH days I've been kind of just idly fucking around on guitar upstairs. I brought up my brother's shitty old Marshall MG10CD practice amp from 25 years ago, brought up my Strat, and my old CH-1 chorus pedal too. And have just been messing around. Strumming chords, just anything to push things out of my mind for a bit.

  • This is my thing

    There's something, I realize, driving the number and variety of ideas I have for things to write about. Would you be surprised to learn it has to do with getting out of the house? They always told me time would seem to slip away faster as I get older. I never wanted to believe them, not only because of how scary that sounds, to accumulate all that wisdom, all that know-how, to navigate the complexities of life just to watch it all wash away in an instant. But also because… how much could it really matter that time would *seem* to slip away, when in reality it'd continue apace as it always had? Surely that was just a them problem. I'd find a way to live my life such that everything would stay new and exciting forever.

    This is one of the oldest attractions in Geminispace, and I still don’t really get it.

    I wonder how many people set up cron jobs to water their plants, and if that’s considered advanced play, or cheating (or cheating yourself).

    At any rate, the number is going up.

  • Fractal Design R6 Repair

    Despite this case being half a decade out of warranty, Fractal Design kindly sent me a replacement power button and cable - shipped internationally - for free.

    I guess they recognised that it was a design flaw that caused the tiny piece of plastic inside the switch to break.
