enchanted tarot and my handmade candyfloss
the enchanted tarot falls in the RWS school, the candyfloss is a roughly marseille inspired majors only deck. pinks and purples and whites, a mix of winter and valentine's day. regarding the candyfloss - i wondered if i could make a majors-only deck work and i still don't know. if i can, it wouldn't be this one. i love the feel of it as a handmade art object, but the visual style is not something i tend to read with. it's a cute deck. and visually i'm really drawn to both cute and goth stuff, but never end up reading with it. there has to be some... neutrality to the style. either realism or universality, i can't really explain it. candyfloss just doesn't have it.

Star Trek II: WoK
Finally managed to raise a kid to the age where this becomes an enjoyable watch, so we watched it last night. It was my first time since seeing it on a recorded-off-TV VHS copy, and boy does the Director's Cut look great in 4K! Notes follow: [...]

return
They approach the decrepit church to the Godshell, the largest of them dragging a lump bound in hessian. A monk squats on the doorstep, his filthy robes flapping in tatters as the freezing wind howls through the holes in the church walls, sending wafts of stale incense and spoiled wine to the party.
"Cleric", states the metal-bound leader of the pack, "we require your services". The monk sucks a small breath in from his limp cigarette, dirtweed wrapped in inked parchment paper. "Death is four silver", comes the reply.
The leader nods to the child clinging to their side, who promptly begins to scavenge through a purse made more from holes than the dog-leather it was crafted with. "We've only three, sire", whispers the boy, glancing up to the rusted helm of his knight.

i'm positively energized and it's got me worrying about hm.. burning out? i mean it in the lightest, non-medical way. i have too many exciting things going on and i want to continue doing them. if i slow down, i'm afraid the fire will go out and they won't be interesting anymore. if i make sure to keep stoking the fires and to keep all the things going, i might crash and burn with doing too much and then won't be able to do anything. or i'll have burnt up the... excitement? and the things will soon be empty shells.

march decks
i picked both of these for their "Pow!" aries sort of feeling, to welcome in the spring and the new astrological year. but it quickly turned out i see them more as magical tools than just plain old tarot decks. the effect was twofold:
1. i followed a rabbit hole of thoth creators that pointed me back towards mysticism, which resulted in a renewed, inspired spiritual practice
2. when i wanted to just fool around with some cards, i reached instead for regular old playing cards, so that was quite fun.

How I Organize My .bashrc with Imports
Keeping a clean and maintainable shell setup matters more than most people think. Over time, a messy .bashrc can turn into a dumping ground for aliases, functions, environment variables, and random experiments.
I prefer a modular approach: split everything into focused files and import them.

molly's ever growing list of stuff she is way too excited to do
On Monday, I sent an email to the local amateur radio club, asking about their classes. That evening, I get a response: "Your timing is impeccable. The next class starts tomorrow evening."
I spent Tuesday signing up for other classes I want to take. These include a Skywarn training this weekend and a Master Gardener class through my local land grant university extension in the fall. Then we got some BIG STORMS, which convinces me I'm on the right track, at least.

Angine de Poitrine
If you haven't been on YouTube you may not have seen all the hype. Angine de Poitrine is a anonymous French Canadian duo creating looped microtonal music. It's not something I'd casually listen to in the car but I'm impressed with the musicianship. The look is something else.

we have liftoff!
After a few weeks poking around the gemiverse, learning the layout and the vibes and the lingo, I've finally got my very own capsule up and running. What should your very first glog (objectively funnier than calling it gemlog) be about? Why, your glog stack of course!
I have a simple mini PC ubuntu server homelab that I run various services off (content for a later glog), so it was relatively easy to get Jetforce up and running inside a Docker container. I also was conveniently already doing automated TLS certificate renewal via LetsEncrypt so it was easy enough to get properly signed.

Oddμ as a static site generator
The End of Eleventy by Brennan Kenneth Brown (@brennan@social.lol) is a blog outlining the surge in static site generator popularity. Static sites are web sites consisting of HTML and CSS files that are served by a web server. There is no server-side component to them. This makes them very fast for readers.
