Pizza Log: the revenge
Who remembers breadpunk.club? Sadly defunct but I've dug a series of posts out of Kennedy's Delorean Time Machine[0], republishing here under the original dates, thus creating an alternate timeline for this mlog.

More LLM lusers on my b0xes
"Kids" these days don't even bother learning for themselves, why should they? I talked about putting lusers in "jail" via systemd, which calls cgroupsv2. At any rate, the method takes an entire username vs. managing processes, and the lusers are limited to 1% of the CPU and 2 GB memory; all new sessions inherit those limits too! This morning, I check in on one of our login nodes and found the following gem...

So, another low point with LLM users is that the uninformed (read: too lazy to learn something) have the audacity to tell you that your configuration is WRONG. The irony here is that the user is _WRONG_. Instead of spending a few moments trying to understand how Slurm's hostlist notation functions, the user probably spent more time getting INCORRECT information.

I was thinking about the difference in technology, specifically computers & software, between the 1970's to 1990's and what we have now. We went from the creation of true, multiuser systems, with virtual memory, networking, file systems, programming languages (looking at you, C), to an abundance of played out web "applications" and the crowning achievement of "AI", which in fact just means a glorified chatbot that gets shit wrong (read: hallucinates) all of the time. Think about that for a minute.. See below: [...]

I _love_ how Micro$oft is trying to walk back all of the shit they've done to the Windows O.S. And, the best part is that I think it is too late for them...
Who knew completely destroying a desktop operating system by doing stupid things like the list below, would have negative feedback??
* Adding "AI" (LLM garbage) to their O.S. and force feeding it down their users' throats
* Adding FUCKING ADS to their O.S. that users PAID for

E-leg — from bad to worse
I’ve longed for so many years for the new Swedish e-id system to finally bring liberation from BankID but it’s going from bad to worse. It shares the incredible drawback of requiring a Google or Apple smartphone, but adds a hard requirement of NFC at all times. (A few years ago I belatedly gave in and got iPad and a GSF/Play-Store enabled Android tablet but neither has NFC (and neither has this Android game handheld) so hello e-waste.)

mkcd
`mkcd` was probably my first ever foray into bash aliases, shell customisation, and the DIY computing spirit that I admire so much.
When you first start playing with the terminal, all you can do is navigate around and make directories. This led me to frustration with the same pattern over and over:
1. make directory
2. navigate into that directory

* Gemini (Primer) links can be opened using Gemini software. It's like the World Wide Web but a lot lighter.
