Growing the List of Sites That Are Rogue

posted by Roy Schestowitz on Apr 28, 2026

root-nation.com is not actually legitimate.

Why does root-nation.com have an average to good trust score?

We've made an extensive list - both digital and mental (on file and inside the brain, respectively) - of sites to avoid for reasons like slop, spam etc.

This is a new one to us. This looks like LLM slop that promotes linkspam:

Examples of the linkspam:

Dealing with Software and Apps

Why does Google News promote this noise?

To be fair, Google News did cull many slopfarms that used to exist in its index. The change occurred about 2 months ago.

In the past 2 days in Google News we saw a couple of examples of slop; here's a twin or pair of slopfarms that got promoted with LLM slop about "Linux". Basically bot-generated FUD:

Slop or fake: Linux ELF Malware Generator Evades ML Detection Using Semantic-Preserving Changes

Slop or fake: Linux ELF Malware Generator Evades ML Detection With Semantic-Preserving Changes

In RSS feeds only the usual suspects (same rogue domains) churned out some slop that mentioned "Linux". As long as only a few sites do this we are still left with many legitimate ones we can read, cite etc.

It's very important to raise and spread awareness of which ones are fake. Or which ones plagiarise other people's work.

As costs of many things - including energy and hardware - rise all over the world we predict a rapid, collective sigh, followed by rapid collapse in LLM adoption or usage. When usage metrics go down the capital (funding) for indebted slop pushers will end. Then they'll go under. Those who rely on those pushers will be starved to death.
