Google Slop Contains Serious Errors, Google Has Just Been Sued for 1.5 Million Dollars by One Victim of It
If he wins [1, 2, 3], the floodgates will open for millions of other people

This morning in Daily Links we included stories about Google getting sued over slop. Apple too has just settled legal action alleging that it misled on slop. Microsoft recently clarified that its slop is for "entertainment only".
GAFAM is already getting a taste of it; slop is a serious legal liability, aside from hilarious costs associated with producing some mediocre text full of errors. Who would be interested in such garbage? Why? Because of the hype??? Because they shove this in our faces, even when all we wish to do is search the Web and find authoritative pages on some topics? A lot of the demand for slop is fake, it is "manufactured" (dark patterns in user interfaces). But this "self-fulfilling prophecy" fantasy is backfiring.
In Google, slop looks like this now:
![AI responses may include mistakes. Learn more [copying Microsoft for legal reasons]](/i/2026/05/slop-mistakes.png)
Google: our "intelligence" is erroneous. Do not rely on it!
Who ever asked for this garbage?
"Learn more".
A long page of legalese (upon clicking). Google's lawyers recognise this is a time bomb.
From the page: "in some cases AI Mode may misinterpret web content or miss context, as can happen with any automated system in Search."
No, it does not "misinterpret".
LLMs do not interpret anything, they just scan words. They lack knowledge and understanding, they don't "hallucinate" or "misinterpret" or "misunderstand". They are just defective and they cannot be improved.
It's not a question of if but a matter of when this bubble will pop as debt reaches ridiculous levels. █
