People Go Back to Basics, Abandon Microsoft's GitHub to Avoid Slop
In our latest batch of Gemini Protocol links we included "Find What You Love and Let It Kill You" (not "the money will come") and many links about people who quit Microsoft's GitHub, protest against slop (state-of-the-art plagiarism), and all sorts of other things. Geminispace is refreshing because it's full of people who think "differently" (from the corporate status quo, reinforced by the "traditional media" owned by billionaires). There are some new comments that say: "The state of tech as it is now I often wish I could just ditch all of it."
One hour ago somebody wrote: "Moved all my projects off of github a long time ago. I don't even know what github is at this point, but it's quite horrific."
Like we said before, it looks like both GitHub and LinkedIn are failed acquisitions. Microsoft loses a ton of money on them, then shuts down the companies and absorbs what's left of them, whereupon the layoffs impacting GitHub and LinkedIn become 'invisible'. The media didn't pay any attention to GitHub's de facto chief quitting Microsoft only a few months ago. █
