Organised Plunder or Robbery: GAFAM and Hardware Companies Rely on Media Bribery to Perpetuate False Narratives and to "Drive Sales" (and Drive Prices Upwards)
The price-fixing seems plausible and, if so, we need to demand action (it's not unprecedented, but these days the media gets bribed to participate)
This was one week ago.
This year has been very warm, more so this past week. It felt like a hot summer in places that don't expect an exceptionally hot summer until July/August. From press clippings it's not hard to get the message: we're spending more power on computers and on datacentres. The latter (not "AI datacentres"; there's no such thing, yet the media promotes this malarkey for 'hype effect') is causing climate change, artificial shortages, and price hikes if not price-fixing (lessened availability drives up prices).
It's good to see some legal action that aims to expose this if not punish the perpetrators. Take NVIDIA for example. Some high-profile people - not alleged "cranks" - have already explained that the company engages in circular financing, i.e. a form of accounting fraud (in effect buying its own products in order to fake revenue). We last wrote about it one month ago. We shared this chart:
It's not actually profitable, it misuses "the economy" to feed an elaborate scam. In the process, all of us who need hardware or hosting services (including ISPs that require hardware) pay through the nose. █
