đź” The Xylophone Essay
But not just xylophones. There's the tintinnabulations of Edgar Alan Poetry and the melodious ribs of old-timey cartoon skeletons.
And you—yeah you—don't turn that dial! To paraphrase Bill Hicks, there's a purple vein Priapus ditty coming soon. ((As much as I hate Joe Rogan parroting, his errant, approaching-speech-impediment-levels-of-praise for Bill Hicks and Norm Macdonald isn’t without societal benefits.))
Greek dick jokes to larboard.

RE: Choosing to believe
I initially wanted to write Nat an email in reply to this text but I decided to make a post about it. Belief is a topic close to me and one we do not talk about as often as we should.
I grew up into my 30s without a concept of belief. Being raised quite a-religious in a very christian state, Words like God or belief were things I connected to the christian church. And the church was always connected to abusive power.

Geeknote 2026-W22
Sometimes my weeknote is a weaknote, or a bleaknote. Today, I'm going with geeknote, and I'm posting in my gemlog. It's just where I've been lately, on the side streets of the net. The little neon lights flickered and caught my curiosity.

Ham radio
I was kicking that can down the road for a couple of years now. Do I really want to invest that much time and money into a ham radio license and equipment only to talk to old men on the radio?
- Nah, it's not about that. It's about gaining the ability to use a radio that's more capable than some sporting goods store walkie talkie.
Now, the licensing scheme in my country of residence got simpler with the introduction of the N-license - giving you very power limited access to only 3 bands, two of which being the common wavelengths used in handled ham radios (2m and 70cm) - by passing a comparatively simple exam. At the same time, handheld radios from China have become a lot better in quality at an accessible price point.

The Lurking LLM on Usenet
I'm actually surprised at this. Not only is Usenet nearly obsolete (“It's still around? Really?”) but the group I'm reading is all about ancient and largely obsolete computer technology. Why, of all groups, would an LLM (Large Language Model) target this group?
