This is just word vomit (like every post)
Every Wednesday at 11 AM, I have therapy. I started back in February and its been better good so far. I've been mostly venting, stream of consciousness style. Jumping from topic to topic before my therapist wrangles me in for the last 10 to 15 minutes. Which is spent on them giving me some tasks for the week to explore based on whatever I was more venting about.
I'm treating it more like talk therapy then expected. But its nice to finally nice to have a therapist that isn't in CBT that triggers my "pure O" OCD tendencies.
Today they suggested that I should write in detail about something I witnessed that day. Just a minute. Something actionable at work to take back my time from a job I hate. Also to not put effort in trying to get my department into the Hotel Workers Union. To focus on putting that energy into somewhere I want to be.

Brogue Monster Drags
The tactic here is to retreat up a level, dragging a problematic monster up a level, and then to jump down a chasm to separate yourself from the problematic monster who if "far enough" from the stairs will not follow you. This is complicated by (sequences of) levels not having anywhere to jump down from, running into a new spawn on the level above you also cannot deal with, and various other issues. The crux is how far you need to be away from the stairs so that the monster does not re-join you on the level below through the stairs. Or maybe the "follow player back down via the stairs" has been fixed and I'm remembering old behavior, perhaps a "hunting" is cleared somewhere else in the code. Wizard mode tests would be ideal: summon a monster, retreat up stairs next to a chasm, take a fall at various distances from the stairs, see if the monster follows you back down, repeat from a savegame, publish your RogueScience™ results, profit?

spread out into a cloud of static buzzing particles, i am the female incel, the forever cringe white knight, i am never cruel
he used to speak to me about very many things, about intelligent things, about philosophy. he would even hear me out, my side of things, let me speak my mind. now and for the past 5 or so years, he has just been telling me to shut up when i want to talk about any of my feelings, aka my "bullshit". i am not allowed to do that. i get hurt physically if i do not "shut the fuck up". he has no idea of my inner vibrant world anymore, he simply does not care.

Six months with AI
I timed my re-entry into the tech industry perfectly if my goal was to experience maximum chaos. I have a lot of feelings. I figured I'd write about them a bit.
[...]
The more I work with these tools-and I work with them quite literally every single day-the more I realize just how utterly disruptive they are to the industry[c]. I cannot be honest and deny their incredible power and utility.
I also cannot deny that this technology threatens lives and livelihoods, accelerates climate change, drives wider the already catastrophic wealth gap, distorts political systems, and drowns out human voices in a sea of AI slop.
It's all just so damned messy.

Tailgaters
I was going to post something about the history and (d)evolution of Linux, but the drive home from Wellsville has led to finally writing a rant on the subject of tailgaters and tailgating.

This blog is now available...
This blog is now available via gopher. Now I can tick that off my bucket list. Meanwhile, still no progress on the socks I've had on needles for months. My priorities are inexplicable.

It's so frustrating that AI...
It's so frustrating that AI is both destroying the open web by drowning it in slop and burying it in scrapers while it's also a powerful tool for folks who want to launch their own blog or website. By making the technical challenges tractable, AI makes the indieweb more accessible than ever, and used properly can enable human communication and connection instead of destroying it. But that doesn't feed the capitalist machine.
