Tomorrow, in Part 100, we'll do an outline of the first half of this series, looking back at some of the aspects already covered. Then, in Part(s) 101 onwards, we'll show that Brett Wilson LLP is in a state of disarray; there will be publicly accessible information and data points, it won't be based on tangential hypotheses and mere speculations.
Generally speaking, this what happens when you decide to act like criminals for people who assault women in another continent and then add death threats to the mix (aside from death instructions to these women). We'll be talking about this next week as this past week I've received some fruitful updates from British police.
Before we get to that - in Part(s) 101 onwards - we want to make an important clarification. The SLAPP industry is far from dead, but there is strong and fast-growing political will right now to combat it and scuttle it (not merely "abusive elements" of it; the "rotten apple" myth is promoted in the video above, where a Director at Brett Wilson LLP - the person who has long worked for the Serial Strangler from Microsoft - uses "Russia"*). We spoke to ministers and politicians about it; they know what my wife went through and assured her action would follow.
Brett Wilson LLP's problems are growing problems it only has itself to blame for. Brett Wilson LLP was already aiming low in 2024 (we got told this by local law firms), now it is barely finding any media-related clients. It's not just some "general trend" in that sector. Some other firms in the SLAPP industry are still finding new clients. This is measurable and verifiable.
Consider the coopetition, SIMKINS LLP (founded by a person of the same name as "MICHAEL SIMKINS LLP" 21 years ago), a firm that trebled its "clean" or real income in the same period of time (a year ago) when Brett Wilson LLP was offloading assets amid financial trauma, based on their latest public report:
We say "coopetition" (cooperation and competition) because they're in the same SLAPP industry and lobbying front - they both profit from libel litigation and they make money at the expense of people they egg on to sue and they probably go to the same parties, seminars etc. In other words, they have shared or overlapping interests and whenever they 'fight' or 'compete' (in cases/lawsuits) they both profit - a lot like politicians; they drain out "External Parties" (the people who pay legal bills). We wrote about this a great deal in the context of patent litigation; we've covered this conundrum for nearly 20 years already. No law firm does "only offence" or "only defence"; they double-dip. They want feuds. Big feuds enrich them.
Some months ago we noticed SIMKINS LLP's Katherine Hooley (dealing with "reputation management concerns" according to her profile) analysing the judgement involving us, based on what was publicly released by the High Court but no other material available before and after the trial. The very lazy article seemed to contain slop images, which makes one wonder how much of the text was LLM slop (if any), but it was unfair, biased, and without anything to add, only regurgitate (based on no direct knowledge of those involved in the trial), so it comes across as online hearsay, so to speak. This is how they sell themselves:
Brett Wilson LLP is the same. RPC (a 'rival') called it "niche City firm Brett Wilson LLP" and it's there in the lobbying alongside Mishcon de Reya LLP (Microsoft connections; it worked for Microsoft while it was paid by EPO officials to stalk and intimidate me).
We've put the word "rival" in scare quotes because right now RPC works for Brett Wilson LLP, though only after Brett Wilson LLP got sued! And still, as of this month, Brett Wilson LLP is formally sued by its own client [1, 2, 3], Vlad Yanpolsky, who based on slop citing 3 law-centric sites (paywalled though) [1, 2, 3] "initiated separate proceedings against his former legal representatives, Brett Wilson LLP and counsel Gervase de Wilde, alleging negligence in handling his defense and refusing to pursue certain appeal arguments in the civil case. These matters remain ongoing in the UK High Court as of 2024." It says he was allegedly "misusing confidential information disclosed during the proceedings" and it reminds us of Brett Wilson LLP revealing in the disclosures (akin to discovery in the US where Garrett and Graveley are based) communications between the "Ontario Criminal" and Garrett - a fact that very much irritates him (he's trying to wrongly insinuate that I cannot mention this as it impacts perceived liability for what happened in IRC). The bottom line is, some of the SLAPP industry is still performing OK. As we'll show next week, Brett Wilson LLP is seemingly slipping out of control. It tries hard to silence us, its staff is still fleeing, and we assume they're reeling because picking American aggressors (who hurt women) as clients is a job no respectable person (especially women) would wish to do. █

* Russia is a "cheap card"; Team UPC uses it, the data centre hoarders nowadays use it (they pretend opposition to harmful data centres is some "Russian propaganda" or "Chinese narrative") and any time you want to demonise people you don't agree with you can leverage the divisive "new Cold War".
