Yesterday there was an "Extraordinary General Meeting" organised by the staff union of the European Patent Office. That was shortly after another meeting.

"Report on the SUEPO Munich General Assembly of Monday 8 June 2026" was also issued in short form this week, summarising the status quo and sharing presentation slides.

To quote the report from SUEPO Munich, which followed the General Assembly:

Ballot on continuation/intensification of actions

Dear SUEPO members,
Dear Colleagues,

Mr Campinos maintains his proposal for a new salary adjustment procedure eroding the salaries, pensions and benefits of EPO staff.

The delegates in the Budget and Finance Committee meeting of 20 and 21 May gave a positive opinion on the proposal in preparation of the Administrative Council meeting of 30 June and 1 July.

Later this year, the Administrative Council will meet on 13 and 14 October to decide on the re-election of Mr Campinos for a third mandate. The new salary erosion procedure is part of his strategy to obtain the necessary support from the delegates.

The presented slides recalled the excellent financial situation of the EPO in 2025, showed the impact of the strikes on operations in 2026 and the effectiveness of “rolling strikes” in The Hague since April:

In the General Assembly, SUEPO Munich announced the launch of a ballot (via BigPulse) on the continuation / intensification of actions until 16 October 2026. The ballot is now open and will close on Sunday 14 June at 23.59h.

We thank SUEPO members for their attendance and for casting their vote in the ballot.

If this is what they do when all indicators are green, what will they do when they are red?!

They cannot ignore us if we stand together

And the slides from this General Assembly:
