Today There's a Massive EPO Strike (Like Every Friday), Workers Explain Further Cuts Despite the EPO Making More Income by Granting Illegal Patents (or Invalid Patents Illegally)
Recent correspondence regarding cuts and more:
We'd like to begin by clarifying that there's no sign of the EPO strikes stopping any time soon. Their impact is profound. The Office compels examiners to illegally grant patents; more of them have found the courage to say "no!"
The so-called 'Social Dialogue' at the EPO is no dialogue but more of a monologue as usual. The EPO loves misusing words like "democracy" or "social" even if about 70% of its clients are massive companies and well over 60% are not even from Europe!

The union representing lots of workers (there are thousands of workers) comments on the so-called 'Social Dialogue' by stating, more concisely:
Dear SUEPO members, dear colleagues,We would like to inform you of the latest developments in our exchanges with the Administration regarding the implications of the proposed Salary Adjustment Procedure (SAP) reform on the Education and Childcare Allowance.
In the interest of transparency, and to facilitate a more constructive and expeditious discussion on this important matter, we have decided to make our correspondence with the Office publicly available.
On 1 April 2026, we addressed an open letter to the President of the Office, highlighting the potential impact of the proposed SAP reform on the Education and Childcare Allowance, within the broader context of the ongoing reform. In that letter, we raised a number of legal, financial, and social concerns, and called for clarity and meaningful engagement on these issues.
The Administration responded by email on 18 May 2026.
We submitted our reply on 20 May 2026, addressing the points raised by the Administration and reiterating our concerns, in particular with regard to the potential adverse effects on staff and their families. The full email exchange can be found here.
To date, however, we have received no further response.
We will continue to closely monitor the situation and keep you informed of any developments. In the meantime, we remain fully committed to ensuring that staff interests are effectively represented and that any reform measures are properly assessed in light of their broader consequences.
No replies from the President.
Maybe the President is too busy getting high or going to high places to secure a NON-election, i.e. buying himself another 5 years in the Office where he welcomes cocaine addicts (as top-level managers) and sleeps with their sisters. He's plundering the Office while those who do all the real work get subjected to sharp cuts.
