United States of America: GNU/Linux Hovering Around 5% (It Started There)

Linux

The United States of America is where UNIX and GNU started; in that sense, GNU/Linux started in the United States of America as well. The combination of GNU and Linux (hence, GNU/Linux) happened in the UK (a former colleague of mine), the kernel alone (Linux) happened in Helsinki, but GNU predates them both by almost a decade and it happened in Boston.

GNU/Linux is turning 43 this year (in a few months), Linux will turn 35, and IBM has turned into a zombie. █
