Earlier this year: Writing About Crime is Not a Crime

We will soon enter the sixth year of lawfare (November this year). It'll be a few weeks after this site turns 20 (as an IRC community we have just turned 18). The lawfare is "going for the kill" and if they get a "kill", it'll be a major win for corrupt, greedy people who detest investigative journalism, men who abuse women (no wonder so many women fled the law firm!), and fraudulent companies that attack Computer Science and computer security (as opposed to back doors disguised as "security").

We've thankfully been productive (about 30 new articles across sites yesterday) and very happy. We're moreover focused on our goals and can keep abreast of the topics we've long covered. At the end this is all that matters. We are not really slowed down by copyright-infringing Microsoft staff and Microsoft back doors "influencers" in social control media. We mention them in passing while focusing on the issues that always mattered to us. It's about the issues, not the people.

I have spent days trying to find a pro bono solicitor to help me do this correctly, but some time soon I'll resubmit my counterclaim against Graveley, who was arrested for strangling women while he worked for Microsoft and lived with his dad.

This lawfare of theirs isn't really about justice; it is about "revenge", it is about brute force, trying to make people insolvent due to two American friends spending well over a million dollars on lawyers (they openly admit third parties help pay these lawyers) and sending me about 100 KG of legal papers all the way up to Manchester. The issue has thankfully earned the attention of our heads of state, who are working to address it. They will tackle it at the core. Trust us, they will!

If you find yourself needing to spend over a million dollars (soon over a million pounds) lawyering up against one single blogger with meagre means to unsuccessfully silence him, then maybe you simply aren't good at lawfare but are willing to lose everything just to prove you're not failing at it. Besides, due to this lawfare we now have important and much belated new legislation in the pipeline - good news for all bloggers and journalists across the country and bad news only for the shady SLAPP industry, already dubbed "hired guns" by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) because of its behaviour, which appears to include death threats.

We have been spending several years on it. We are making sacrifices for the sake of the nation and for Software Freedom, among many other things such as real computer security (as opposed to American back doors).

Last night I wrote that "Lawfare Against Us Has Clearly Backfired", especially for the SLAPP industry. It'll soon be a lot harder for them to start new lawsuits (to profit from). They will soon realise that their financial assumptions no longer hold; some will shut down the office and need to retrain in other areas of law. Maybe some of them will go do a job that actually contributes to society (e.g. selling food).

It all goes back to the same point: if your business is reputation laundering for bad people, and if the public finding out about it becomes a reality (exposure), and if you then try to portray the exposure as a crime, and if your attempts to frame the exposure as a crime fail (they try to portray my wife as a criminal even though the chief judge acknowledged in her judgement that she had been abused), what will the general public think of you and your meta (pseudo) industry? █
