GitHub is Dying (Traffic Down Despite Bots and Slop), Microsoft Will Eventually Cull it - Just Like XBox - to Limit the Losses
A couple of days ago we wrote about another abandonment of Microsoft GitHub. This was for a project dealing with secure communications. It is not a new challenge. As Daniel Pocock put it one decade ago: "I produced the RTC Quick Start Guide, everybody following the guide will end up with a roughly similar server setup that can inter-operate with other servers."
Later today there will be some news about Daniel Pocock. He understands (technically) secure communications and he has a lot to offer. That's why GAFAM-funded entities are so afraid of him.
Regarding Quibble, we recently heard from its development team, which rejects slop and rejects Microsoft.
"We wanted to make sure we handled everything as gratis as possible to the school," they told us, "since even requesting a few dollars in reimbursement from the institute would have taken days to weeks for approval. That's what makes Codeberg so great, they required very little verification on LibreTech's part to grant us their paid services at no cost as a student group."

From what we are able to see, GitHub's decline continues and a year ago Microsoft attempted to hide this by folding it into "core hey hi" - a newly-minted shell created only months earlier to piggyback buzzwords and hype. Months later the new chief of GitHub quit Microsoft. The media hardly even mentioned that!
