Or an IBM veteran a week ago: "I worked for IBM for 39 years. Retired 3 years ago. When I started, it was like joining a family. It was a great place. I remember the big events they had for us. Then in 1992 Lou Gerstner took over and everything changed overnight. First ever layoffs. In 1999 they took away my pension. IBM was always known as an industry leader. They’re now the industry leader in ways to screw employees. Like the 401k match they just took away. I left quite bitter, but I was around when it was good, so I saw it all. The biggest thing is….its a job. Expect no loyalty from the company and give your loyalty cautiously. Good luck..."
