GNU/Linux Has Become More Mainstream in the United Kingdom
Apparently ManLUG had a meeting yesterday afternoon:
Today Clownflare sees GNU/Linux usage at 13% in the UK.
25 years ago we had an active ManLUG (Manchester Linux Users Group) going on and I used to attend some meetings. Back then it was commonplace to attend these to receive technical assistance from peers (fellow attendants), e.g. to get something working properly on a stubborn laptop.
ManLUG is not so active anymore and there's no visible activity in the Free Software equivalent of it (there's some overlap, people-wise, with ManLUG). That's because GNU/Linux is a lot more mainstream, it's not a tiny niche where people look for the tiny minority likened to themselves.
It's a long weekend here and we guess some people dabble in GNU/Linux migrations, at least at home.
