The Peculiar Case of OSNews, Which Experiments With Slopfarming
It is particularly odd as the editor signals his opposition to slop [1, 2]. Follow the money, especially in OSNews. It seems to have been paid for slop.
In the past we ranted a lot about Holwerda, who was entrusted to run OSNews when its founder stepped down and stepped aside. In Holwerda's own words: "Almost exactly 21 years ago, in June 2005, at a mere 20 years old, I took over the managing editor role at OSNews from Eugenia. I had already published a few articles in the years prior, and had given Eugenia enough confidence to suggest me as her replacement. It was, and is, a great honour."
I remember Eugenia's posts (I was a lot younger back then) and it seems like Holwerda removed the boundaries between technology and politics. It's not that I always disagree with his politics, it's just that he's fusing politics into technology like no other site does. It's not limited to social control media, the politics are inserted into the site's banner (e.g. Ukraine flag) and posts oftentimes look like LLM slop:

Get a load of this! It's 100% LLM slop:

Published by a generic account, "OSnews".
It wasn't published in error. It has been there for two months. █
