Plagiarism is Hardly a New Problem, It Predates Mainstream Media Getting Paid to Whitewash It as "Training" or "Hey Hi", Then Conflate Plagiarism With "Intelligence" or Deferred "Value"

"Quantum" isn't new either; it's a 'circle-jerk' for companies without direction, only hype

Public officials are being bribed, conned, bamboozled and schmoozed into becoming active participants in a pyramid scheme that hurts all of us and will hurt us even more once it inevitably collapses. The media, also bribed by slop pushers, plays a role in this. It is participating (for profit) in attacks not only on itself (plagiarism) but on the global economy. This manifests in the form of GAFAM propaganda such as this:

Google Deepens Commitment to Finland with Two-Year €13 Billion investment in AI Infrastructure

So outsourcing to GAFAM (same country that threatened to annex Greenland) is somehow sovereignty?

Sompi said "Fortum just sold the almost the entire production from one of Finland's nuclear power plants to Google for the next 24 years..."

"Prime minister Petteri Orpo was very proud about it on TV..."

"We are already struggling with electricity prices, even today it is more than 20 cnt/kWh," he said. "And it's not even winter yet..."

"There's more than 100 gigawatts of data centers being built in Finland, and we have less than 10 gigawatts of production [...] There's always many job postings of jobs that don't actually exist. It's not just the case with data centers, but with everything else too... Here they are called "ghost jobs"..." (related to silent layoffs or ghost layoffs)

"Worse," someone notes, "the country's own prime minister is parroting the already debunked lies of datacenter boosters while sabotaging future possibilities of actually achieving digital sovereignty."

Mindless promotion of slop is a bit of a cancer. Computers have long been used for computation (medical research, simulations, and so on), now they call it "hey hi" and pretend it is an "era", "revolution", "arms race", and so on.

Do people want slop? Is there a demand for it?

No.

It's manufactured by the pushers. They resort to interfaces that force/impose behaviour, such as slop prompts where search bars should be or used to be and infinite loops (chats, scrolling etc.) where boundaries serve best the interests of the user's time.

They make up fake demand for things, usually by adopting casino 'research' and making people addicted/stimulated.

Does slop work? Not really, just barely. It has no actual intelligence. See for instance (from the latest Daily Links) "ChatGPT copied my writing style, but couldn't fool an AI detector" (it's just a plagiariser and it's not even good at that). People who understand how LLMs work should not be shocked by this outcome; it won't improve over time, it might even get a lot worse (and more expensive).

This won't end well for anyone who participates. It'll also crash economies.
