In Praise of 7 Years of Alex Oliva in the FSF, Not IBM
IBM's (and thus Red Hat's) rhetoric towards the FSF has been increasingly hostile since their staff (e.g. Elana Hamasman) and former staff ran an anti-RMS petition, effectively and unconditionally seeking the removal of the FSF's founder. IBM and Red Hat feel some sort of entitlement because of money spent, not money earned, by exploiting volunteers as no-cost labour.

Alex Oliva is a very smart guy who comprehends Software Freedom and had strong enough principles to quit IBM (because of these principles) after it had taken over Red Hat. He consistently opposes LLM slop (unlike today's Red Hat, a huge booster of slop) and despite English not being his mother's tongue, he can articulate many ideas very clearly and shrewdly.
An hours ago he wrote, "on this day 7 years ago I was appointed acting president of the FSF. saddest and scariest day of my life so far, hopefully ever."
Thank you, Mr. Oliva, for 7 years of uncompromised/ing advocacy and perseverance. Many in the community are proud of you.
Not too shockingly, the exact same people who engaged in lawfare against me since 2021 also repeatedly attempted to make Mr. Oliva unemployed (using similar tactics). █
