Software Freedom Day is Tomorrow
Several events coming
Tomorrow it's Software Freedom Day (2026) and there are at least 4 events that celebrate it that I could clearly identify. It's easy to remember that date this year because it is exactly - but not always - a day before our wedding anniversary. Wikipedia explains that "[s]ince 2006, Software Freedom Day has been held on the third Saturday of September. In 2026, this event will be held on the 19th of September."
Next year Software Freedom Day (for 2027) will completely overlap our wedding anniversary, Sept. 18th.
Today we're celebrating matrimony (year 15 of our marriage, or 14 in binary clock) by exchanging cards and going out on a small budget (inexpensive isn't the opposite of happiness). We're kind of excited about the prospects of us taking our appeal (in the Garrett case) to the Court of Appeal next year, as permission to appeal takes time. Garrett isn't our 'enemy', he's just an enemy of Software Freedom and of Linux; he kept promoting restricted boot despite knowing the many problems associated with it and he landed restricted boot in Linux by trolling Linus Torvalds (who strongly antagonised restricted boot) and others in social control media while throwing tantrums to incite gullible crowds. █
