They Create the Conditions for People to Leave, This Way They Don't Call it "Layoffs"

IBM and Microsoft both do PIPs. It helps them hide the layoffs and generally blame staff for "low performance" and "deciding to leave" (or "retire") without compensation. The criterion for removal seems financial, not about performance at all. They try to get rid of "expensive" workers. In Microsoft, for instance, it was made abundantly obvious 4 months ago.
"I was put on a PIP last week," somebody from IBM said (emphasis added by us). "My mid-year review was pretty normal & overall positive. Then my manager suddenly hit me with the PIP last week. It honestly feels like a numbers game at this point. A lot of what's written in the PIP assessment is either flat-out untrue or very debatable."
We keep seeing many stories like these. If the WARN Act does not "shape up", it'll become a toothless relic of the past - a mechanism of gaslighting based on misinformation.
A lot of this covert layoffs loop began 3 years ago. There are no "hey hi layoffs", just layoffs. The real issue is commercial and growing debt is the core problem. █
