Libera Chat Tolerates People Who Say “Gas the Jews” and Want to Stab Colleagues
I've connected to libera.chat to gather some information about the current controversy. In doing so I did not mention anything political, I only asked for context leading up to a ban.
From what I was able to gather, politics are permitted in libera.chat.
Just make sure those political views you expressedly have are mostly or largely the same as those held by the masters of libera.chat.
To libera.chat, it's not limited to politics either. From what I can gather, some utterly troubled individuals have taken control of key (steering) roles.
Does this mean libera.chat is compromised?
Well, it a way it was compromised right from the get-go.
Does that mean libera.chat is still safe for communities?
It never was.
The volunteers of libera.chat ("staff") aren't working for free, they work towards an agenda (and they crave control). That agenda is to make others think the way they do, and it's not limited to politics. The reward is ego. It's form of compensation.
To be clear, that's more or less the same problem with Freenode (now "Leenode"). Lee is a fairly radical individual trying to leverage IRC to make him "king" and peddle a Ponzi scheme.
They say that nothing (which costs money to run) is free. If it's given for free, then you might be the product. █
