What is "Computer Science"? It is What Broligarchs Reject.

Computer Science (or CS) is still advertised as a degree in a lot of universities worldwide. Admission requirements (e.g. grades) are relatively steep. Some of the departments have a 'lane' for Computer Engineering (typically hardware) and Software Engineering (more software-focused). The person who coined the term Software Engineering has just died. She was 90. Back in her days, many Software Engineers were female (unlike today). My wife did CS, I did Software Engineering. She graduated years before I did.

Nowadays some people call themselves informal terms or made-up titles (with terms like "AI" or "big data" or "data" tossed into the mix). We have people without formal education in Software Engineering or any related discipline claiming (about themselves) to be some kind of "gurus". Many of them gravitate towards scams like slop (plagiarism), fake currencies, and tools for cheating (under the guise of "intelligence" with "agency").

Andy has written on this topic a great deal over at The Cyber Show. He covered the marginalisation of women, the demonisation of science, and the cults that promote fake "security" (typically the opposite!) while leveraging tools to cement psychopathy.

If someone you know utters words like "Oracle" (or some other brand name) to signal proficiency, or if someone says "look at my GitHub" (Microsoft, proprietary, typically for people too nontechnical to handle Git), then be sceptical, walk away.

There are three types of people in the field: people who know what they do, people who exploit that first group for their political agenda, and people who are targeted by that second group to be rendered helpless, hopeless addicts.

Those of us who want to go back to "Computer Science" (with emphasis on the latter word) typically want technology that makes people empowered, designs that prevent back doors, and communications that foster social cohesion/peace.

Contrariwise, opponents of the science want to make legions of obedient addicts, using systems remotely controlled by these opponents, and communications that foster conflict beneficial to these opponents (of science).

Human civilisation isn't at existential risk due to "hey hi" but due to these Dr. Strangeloves.

We should note, in passing at least, that Microsoft Lunduke is now falsely insinuating that the opposition to slop is a "trans thing". Way to frame things in a totally misleading way so as to advance slop boosters.

He also keeps attacking people who "engaged" with him on his "show"; all those fools who thought it was 'free publicity/press' (and generally harmless) will find out that years of mobbing isn't worth 15 minutes of fake 'fame'.

"I guess it is somewhat useful to observe what the broligarch party line is [1, 2, 3, 4, 5] (c.f. Scientology, [which distorts Science]). Those backing LLMs are far worse than even [Microsoft Lunduke] Bryan," an associate has noted. And "this is all not happenstance, it is planned by Altman, Thiel, and others, c.f. the cult of Microsoft."

Notice how many of them have no background in Computer Science (not even something to be gained in diploma mills). None whatsoever. The main thing that they find attractive about computers is that that computer systems can help them gain leverage/power over other people. █
