In
the words of one person:
The benefits of software freedom apply to businesses too. Businesses like mine.
Which is why SLED, SLES, and OpenSuSE don't have a place in my company. Why not OpenSuSE? Because it indirectly benefits Novell by growing the SuSE "ecosystem" and potentially attracting ISV interest.
In
the words of another:
Many of us business IT Managers do not mind paying money for free software, but we are interested in the long term well being of the free software ecosystem. We want to see it prosper and thrive. Moves such as those by Novell, driven by short sighted, short term profits, at the possible expense of a poisoned free software well, do not merit our support.

I'm hearing a lot of talk from people interested in Ubuntu Server, because ... they run Ubuntu at home! Including from my own boss. I don't think Ubuntu is anywhere near enterprise predictability on the server - really, just use Debian - but Canonical are undoubtedly aware of the opportunities here. Perhaps they can make Ubuntu robust enough for serious server-room consideration.

I DO see a person who is very concerned over an operating system he/she is very accustomed to under threat from a major corporation/corporations and is taking it very seriously and vigorously and this appeals to my sense of freedom in one of the last places on earth.
I DO see that this could be a political move made by any party for corporate/monetary or financial gain in the long-run by opening up this particular can of worms that is not limited to the same corporation issuing the same warning for a different distro, thus creating a sense of distrust within the infant community, we must be actively warry of this threat or simply put AWARE that we are under siege from financial institutions.
These are just a few of my thoughts and quiq sketches with no proof reading.
