Bonum Certa Men Certa

About 2,000 Gemini Capsules Worldwide, Over 200,000 Page Requests From About 2,000 Hosts in Techrights Alone This August

Gemini stats
This number (1,543) does not include all the unknown ones (or private ones). Months ago, back in April or around March, it was less than 1,000 in total, so we're talking about 50% growth in about 4-5 months.

Summary: The corporate media won't mention it (too busy running "sponsored narratives" for large corporations), but Gemini is growing fast and more people use it

TODAY is the last day of the month, which means we've just purged all Gemini logs, as usual. But before we did we just took stock of some statistics which help show the phenomenal growth or expansion of Gemini space (sites or capsules served over the Gemini protocol, gemini://).

"More code, more momentum, growing awareness..."Gemini is definitely not an insignificant niche and certainly not dead, despite slowing activity in the project's mailing lists. Based on yesterday's activity in the main mailing list, Suckless people seem to have taken an interest in gemini://, which is wonderful news. References and specifications are being adopted, then implemented in more frameworks and computer/programming languages. Many architectures are supported and everything is Free software. We know of one very well-known GNU project which is currently migrating to gemini:// (more details in our IRC logs), so watch this space. More code, more momentum, growing awareness...

As for us in Techrights, we expect further growth next month as we shift more attention to gemini:// and make further improvements to that effect (for feature parity and scope parity, including the Wiki).
