Having said that, I suspect it has been a way to pressure Android backers to pay Nokia, eliminating cost advantages.

Apple has enough cash on hand and they really can’t afford to not have Windows in the marketplace. With the Android phones making Apple look under-choiced, over-priced, and simply lagging behind, Apple needs a Falstaff to make them look less sad. Sooooo… I can’t help but wonder if Cupertino might find some way to ‘invest’ and keep Nokia afloat.
