The debian-private mailing list leak, part 1. Volunteers have complained about Blackmail. Lynchings. Character assassination. Defamation. Cyberbullying. Volunteers who gave many years of their lives are picked out at random for cruel social experiments. The former DPL's girlfriend Molly de Blanc is given volunteers to experiment on for her crazy talks. These volunteers never consented to be used like lab rats. We don't either. debian-private can no longer be a safe space for the cabal. Let these monsters have nowhere to hide. Volunteers are not disposable. We stand with the victims.

Revising the {Policy,Programmers}manual

I have volunteeered to see about revising the manuals. We are aiming to
get this out as a bug fix to dpkg,dpkg-dev within the next week or so
(along with some code changes, but that is Heiko's job :)

Since I was doing this, I wanted to see if there were areas that need to
be clarified in order to clear up some of the confusions we are having.
For now, I am looking at definfing and describing the policy in place for
the release of 1.2. After December we can work on the policies for 1.3 (I
know a few items have been kicked around but aren't ready for
implementation)

I want feedback and you can choose either a reply to me or the list.

So far I have...

For 1.2:

[for sure]

 * new-maintainer@debian.org as the address for all changes to package
   maintanance (first package, getting rid of a package, picking up a
   package)

 * Clarification of what lists to send upload/change announcements to.

 * clarification of shlibs section
   [from a note from Heiko who is working on the dpkg code]

[unsure - for 1.3?]

 * debmake
   Since Christoph has been making a lot of this easier, should the
   programmers manual refer to debmake examples for things?

 * does the language defining non-free/contrib need to be clarified?

 * Version 2.3 of the Web Standard?
   It seems that actual implementation of it is still up in the air.

 * Documentation as html?
   or is this part of the Web Standard, and when that is ready to be
   implemented then the policy can be changed
