In 2017, after heavy involvement and lobbying by Benoît Battistelli, António Campinos (longtime acquaintance of Battistelli) became President-elect of the EPO. We had been writing about Campinos for a number of years before that. EPO staff representatives have alleged, as recently as spring of 2020, that with Campinos they're all back to the Battistelli era.
