It's so easy to fall into pessimism
It is so easy to worry, so easy to think that everything is going to go wrong.
It is so much harder to be optimistic and risk being disappointed. The thing is, nobody who ever created anything great thought everything was going to shit and that they had no reason to live, they must have had some sliver of hope left to keep creating, keep living, keep helping.

Sunrise Photos, Near Tanana River: Fairbanks, AK, USA: 2024-04-26
I went out for a sunrise viewing again this morning, around 5am. This time I went to the area at the south end of the airport runway, the same area where I take my lunchbreak walks. The display was not quite as grandiose as on my last trip, but I got a few beautiful photos. I think this photo over the river was perhaps the best of the lot: [...]

"Slow Productivity" book notes
These are my personal takeaways after reading "Slow Productivity - The lost Art of Accomplishment Without Burnout" by Cal Newport.
The case studies in this book were a bit long, but they appeared to be well-researched. I will only highlight the interesting, actionable items in the book notes.
These notes are mainly for my own use, but you may find them helpful.

Gemini capsule certificate change
The certificate for this gemini capsule has been changed because I moved it from one computer to another. Below you can find the new certificate and verify that it's valid. The message is signed with my old public key, which you can find both from my website and this gemini capsule.

IRC is still going!! Wowza!!
It's crazy. I honestly thought it was dying out but no, the servers are still up there, and the clients still run smoothly, and there's hardly any netsplitting. I joined the ircnet servers just to see if they're still pumping, and they are!! Of course, much less active than they used to be, but I'm amazed they haven't gone totally dead. It seems there's a lot of Polish people who like to use IRC still, which is awesome, even if I don't speak a word.

"Best viewed with Netscape": How many pieces of flair did your website have?
If you watched Office Space, you might have a clue where the title of this post came from.
Remember websites in the 90's? Those had flair. Flair being a website packed full of tiny 88x31 gif buttons.
As I was in the process of writing a script to automatically convert my gemlog to html, I just felt something was missing when viewing the output. Later that night, I woke up out of a fever dream and it hit me, what's a website without a 'Best viewed with Netscape' button?
