Summary: The Internet -- and not just the World Wide Web anymore -- is being stressed to the point where censorship has become far too rampant and social control media is basically all about filtering, not for information's sake but for its owners' financial interests; we need to restructure the Internet to curb suppression and curtail autocracy

THE Internet is under attack, even at DNS level. It's not just a problem with the Web anymore. With whole nations offloading data and outsourcing their operations to a bunch of datacentre companies, usually American ones, we're inevitably facing catastrophe. Nowadays a lot of people learn "Clown Computing" (outsourcing) instead of actual platform building, begetting further concentration of power (through centralisation).

There's much to be said about 'free' video hosting (dis)services such as GulagTube and Vimeo. They're now ruining channels and squeezing them for money because just like ClownFlare they lack a sustainable business model and they're still trying to make a profit. Netflix is also doubling the prices (all in just a number of years). Hardly surprising. Odysee/LBRY has its own perils and the FSF seems to have moved from mediagoblin to decentralised PeerTube. Generally speaking, decentralisation will be increasingly appreciated in the coming years. It's why we've spent a lot of time (earlier today) on IPFS, upgrading and improving a number of things.
