schestowitz[TR2]I have attempted to access it many times today and it seems to be down, at least from where I live, in Central America. Given his health state and his activism, I am curious if something happened that I am not aware of."Sep 03 20:46

schestowitz[TR2]Ready to retire by the end of the year. Been asked to train some Indians to take over the responsibilities. Sad to see team members being PIP’ed and literally being pushed out the door to make room for Indians.Sep 03 21:19

schestowitz[TR2]It’s interesting if you run the 8/15% numbersSep 03 21:19
schestowitz[TR2]Currently IBM has approx 265k worth of employees worldwideSep 03 21:19
schestowitz[TR2]That equates to 21k / 40k worth of employees impacted (8 / 15)Sep 03 21:19
schestowitz[TR2]Given a 10k head count per billion for first world employee savings (NA and Europe) and a 30k per billion worth of savings for the rest of the world we can estimate some savingsSep 03 21:19
schestowitz[TR2]NA/ Europe savings at 8% would equate to approx 6500 heads or 650 millionSep 03 21:19
schestowitz[TR2]The rest of the world at 8% would equate to approx 14,500 heads or 500 millionSep 03 21:19
schestowitz[TR2]That nets to 1.1-1.2 billion in savings which just about nets to what IBM said FCF would grow toSep 03 21:19

schestowitz[TR2]@cj given that RAs are one of IBM's top products, continued growth is only possible if they can eliminate severance.Sep 03 21:19
schestowitz[TR2]Given that most teams have already been cut to the bone -- they were cut to the bone two years ago -- they can afford to reduce the layoff percentage from 15 to 8% if it saves them severance. Not like there's that many people left anyway unless you're in India.Sep 03 21:19

schestowitz[TR2]Yes, there is a PIP target of 15% with the aim of cutting 8% by end of year. Some managers are pushing back, but the higher ups are not bulging.Sep 03 21:19

schestowitz[TR2]IBM doesn’t want to do RAs. It looks bad to the shareholders. The company’s strategy is to force managers to target 15% of their team as low performers (even when there is none), and put them on PIPs or de-incentive them by making their lives miserable (more work, no salary increase, etc.) to get them to leave.
