Windows at 14% Market Share (Welcome to India)
TIMES are changing. In some demographies they change faster.
2023 was exceptionally strong for GNU/Linux adoption. 2024 starting even better? Seems so. GNU/Linux is now measured at over 4% (source: statCounter) and Windows is a shrinking platform. As for Apple? No, Apple has its own problems and illusions. Apple loses market share among Web developers (more so over time) because the "geniuses" must have realised it's a waste of money. The "Apple premium" is money down the toilet.
In poorer area of the world, such as India, Apple is nothing and Windows is falling to 14%, which means roughly 1 in 7 Web-connected machines:
On desktops and laptops GNU/Linux is measured at over 15% in India. As psydroid said in IRC about GNU/Linux, "it looks like it will grow fastest in India in particular and Asia in general over the next few years". █
