More Microsoft Shutdowns That Mostly Slipped Under the Radar
Nope, this stuff won't last. It might work, for now, but for how much longer? Remember what happened to books 'sold' by Microsoft?
The above was mentioned in Daily Links. Even some Microsoft propaganda sites write about it, for instance this one:
This is sort of like Microsoft Stores. They won't officially admit (in 2020) that the whole thing is doomed and buried. Even the "old" stuff... it'll vanish for good... just not yet.
Microsoft is dying. Ignore Wall Street. It's lying. Microsoft is riding borrowed money and other people's money.
A lot of Microsoft layoffs went "under the radar" during a national holiday, but facts begin to emerge weeks later. The layoffs are vast, wide-ranging, and have nothing to do with "AI". It's not like Microsoft will replace 400 lawyers with slop. For one thing, it's illegal.
There's another issue here, as an associate explains: "With the (forced) exodus of employees from Microsoft, the non-disparagement clause in their separation paperwork will prevent airing how bad it really is there."
"They've lifted non-compete clauses, due to those being invalid and illegal, but I would guess that the non-disparagement clauses are still there."
"Same for similar gag clauses in support contracts, especially the larger ones."

I heard from people in Microsoft that they're desperate, anxious, and eager to find another job ASAP. Microsoft won't count them as layoffs if or when they leave. That's the exact same thing as what happens in Intel. █
