Microsoft's fantasies:
As readers can tell, based "the latest" development, the militant elements of Microsoft et al are just wasting a lot of money while accomplishing nothing (only Streisand Effect, i.e. more publicity for what they're attempting to hide/suppress). The attacks on Richard Stallman (rms), Professor Eben Moglen and Daniel Pocock (who now uses his status to run for politics) by aggressive militants have resulted in nothing, or only symbolic gestures. They hoped to have besieged, quiet, timid activists who give up and "move on" in life. Instead they brought more attention to what they're trying to suppress, feeding a cycle of publicity rather than an effective censorship regime. "The attacks can be quite tiring even if one realises they are not entirely personal in nature," an associate explains. Commenting on Dr. Stallman, he says that this founder of GNU is "also too old for that kind of bullshit. So I hope there can be some respite for him and, eventually, both a public clearing of his name and a scourging of the Microsofters who have packed together and attacked him and others."
