Home (sickness)
As a child in elementary school, I -- much like most kids -- went on holidays with my parents. My classmates of course did the same, and afterwards, when school started back up again, we would share stories. One concept which often came up in these stories was homesickness.
As a child, I didn't understand homesickness. After all, what is so great about being home? And why would you miss it when there is so much to see.
Later in life, we would go on class trips over weekends. There would always be kids who missed home (particularly their parents) so much that they cried for hours. Once, again, I didn't really understand their sadness. I got along fine with my parents, but the trip was fun and -- all things considered -- rather short.

Third day at the Ashram
It's not even been 3 full days yet, this is completely mental. I got the jeep towed this morning, and now the garage just called to say it's ready to pick up.
From the time it was towed to the time I received the phone call, I went through all the scenario, too expensive, too broken, the jeep maybe broke on the road there.. also the garage said that it would take at least a week to get to it... I didn't know what I could do during that time.
Life... LIFE! What's up? I really have to put in practice this equanimity, but when facing new events that I have no control over, I get really anxious.

Fourth day at the Ashram
I woke up at 6:20, took a shower before heading to hatha yoga. I setup my mat and when I laid down on the ground my head was really spiny. I was getting worst and worst, and during the sun salutation, I did a back bend, and when I came back straight I fell on the ground but was able to catch myself.
I am not sure what was going on, a mix of food change (I'm used to a high fat, high protein, which is far from being ashram food) but also the surrounding mind relation.
As I mentioned previously, we all affect each others, and if we have strong judgement toward other people, they will feel our thoughts, or at least I do feel these mind stuff. I've always been sensitive to that, and I've tested many times this sensitivity by asking people what was going on and I realized that I am affected by other people's thoughts.

It's the fires, again...
Here in Portugal lots of fires started up everywhere in the last few days. I wonder if the news cause any impression on anyone anymore. It's the same every year. Not exactly incredible, not exactly surprising, not exactly news. It's depressing.

Markdoc is pretty cool
At work, I use MDX for writing technical documentation. It's very flexible and pretty nice to write. However, MDX has a big problem: performance.
Recently we moved from using JS components that hide/show versioned documents based on the version selected to using file path-based versioning. This is far better for us as writers from both a maintanability and a writing perspective. However, it introduced a major new problem in that it increased our build time from 3:30 to around 8:30. For a lightweight static site, this is pretty awful.
