EFF Losing the Plot

posted by Roy Schestowitz on Oct 05, 2024

Clock Strikes twelve

Like the Linux Foundation and OSI, the EFF has succumbed to corporate influence and is derailing itself (along with its original mission).

EFF last year: EFF Takes Money From US Nazis to Speak for Prostitutes and Frame Privacy (or Net Liability) as a Sex Issue

Earlier today: (is privacy not for everybody?)

Can I have my privacy respected too please?

EFF months ago:

Electronic Frontier Foundation argues that stopping small children from going to adult-only websites is a violation of the First Amendment.

The very latest from EFF (as of today) is the same thing. They're doubling down:

EFF to Fifth Circuit: Age Verification Laws Will Hurt More Than They Help

As we noted hours ago, the second from the bottom is promotion of Microsoft, Microsoft Windows, and Microsoft Office. They don't even mention OpenDocument Format (ODF). It's really, really bad.

They associate equality with proprietary spyware of Microsoft and they're promoting the training of people to spread it like a drug. Excel (OOXML) gets mentioned, so as an associate put things, "it is important to remind that 1) no one, not even Microsoft, uses it. 2) there is a true universal format, ODF."

So EFF is basically promoting monopolies instead of fighting monopolies. Heck, the EFF is funded by monopolies and lies for them.

But it gets even worse, as EFF does politics and then calls "Victory!" Facebook's surrender to EFF pressure, saying that Hamas-like slogans are OK.

EFF: Calling for Genocide of Jews is OK, but Republicans Protesting is a Crime

October 7 is Monday. Stay classy, EFF.

Next year we'll have much bigger stories to tell about the EFF.
