  • a chilly november 6th

    We've had some pretty nasty storms over the weekend, and the temps have dropped to the 60s. I fell asleep with a knot of anxiety in my stomach for some incredibly obvious reasons, and woke up feeling like someone slammed a hammer to my face. Throwing myself into work will probably alleviate the helplessness I feel right now, along with taking some walks this afternoon and avoiding literally everyone outside right now.

  • Tattoos

    I have a tattoo on my arm. It's a little pomegranate on my arm. One of my coworkers who comes to do a shift every now and then in between their studies noticed it today. It's small enough that they thought it was a stamp from a bar or some event or somesuch. But no, this one is permanent.

    This led them to ask me whether I intend to get more tattoos. And indeed, I do. Alongside the pomegranate, I want a bunch of other fruit in a row on my arm. An orange, a pineapple, a pear, something like that. And an animal on my shoulder, something like that. Those are my tattoo plans, as I told them.

  • Gender abolitionism makes me so angry

    i'm 100% in favour of working towards abolishing compulsory gender roles and compulsory gender presentations, a long-term project which dates back to the beginnings of modern feminism. i'm also 100% in favour of abolishing compulsory _gender_: no-one should be _expected_ to have a sense of gender, or _required_ to identify with a specific gender label.

    Those who work with me IRL likely know that when I'm out of the house, I'm working from a 10 year old Dell XPS laptop. It's a solid laptop that, with any luck, will have accompanied me from the start of my undergrad degree to the end of my PhD.
