Good News, Bad News: Groklaw is Back Online, SoylentNews Apparently Loses Editor
Earlier this year we revisited the abuse SoylentNews had been subjected to, as it was focused on Jan in particular. It was very aggressive. Earlier today we mentioned some of the tactics used and I saw very clearly that some of the same extremists and criminals who targeted us (even my parents, wife etc.) also targeted SoylentNews. There was no question about it. They made it abundantly obvious.
SoylentNews should find a way to convince Jan that the community supports him and that he's being manipulated by bad faith actors. Some already try to:
Jan ought to change the resignation into a mere pause. Many people welcome the work he put in and we want to see the trolls walking away, not the legitimate editors. Giving bad actors a taste of victory will give them some appetite for more (either against SoylentNews or other sites; maybe both). A year ago we published "SoylentNews Isn't Failing, It Is Being Sabotaged by Very Aggressive Trolls".
In better news, after a very long time offline [1, 2] Groklaw is back. It used to be an Internet joke that SCO keeps coming back from the dead; now it's Groklaw:
Welcome back! █
