It Looks More Like Microsoft GitHub Layoffs
This morning we wrote about GitHub ceasing to be a company. GitHub is just losing loads of money. It always lost loads of money, even before Microsoft took over GitHub.
What are people's GitHub "EXIT PLAN"? Have they got any? It was never free hosting, ever. It was sharecropping.
Judging by the press coverage, this looks like more layoffs, not a resignation:
Remember that in recent years Microsoft GitHub had several waves of layoffs (even in India) and offices were permanently shut down.
Was that not enough in "Savings" and "Cuts"? Is GitHub doomed to become just a database for code slop (plagiarism)? Maybe.
Regarding Red Hat, IBM might be postponing the layoffs. It is a known PR tactic. Sometimes companies merely delay the layoffs to 'dispel' or try to counter the rumours, at least temporarily (or to discredit leakers), so staff is not out of the woods yet. We saw this before. The WARN databases are not up to date, whistleblowers didn't update their information, and it's possible that the day of execution changed.

From "LVFS Sustainability Plan":
It seems rather probable that GitHub cuts go a lot further than the CEO. As for IBM, there are many more layoffs planned for next month when workers are back from holiday. █
