Re: the seven habits of highly effective cats
My cats are the pickiest cats are I’ve ever met! I’m talking, they DO NOT eat canned cat food! Only canned human tuna! We had to switch to no-salt-added in-water tuna, which is more expensive, because they were getting high sodium!
So, after reading this and laughing I had to thank my cats for their lack of initiative in trying steal our food.

So, here’s what’s going on inside my mind
So, School is back now. I usually type here, because it’s one of the places that is unblocked.Sometimes while waiting for notes or assignments you get bored and so you do something else. Usually, this will lead to distractions, but im going to control it. Just so you know, I will have multiple points of free time.
So here’s what happened during the previous year and summer:
After my summer break, I listened to The Artifex’s The Grand Decline. A 36 act long album about dementia, that is different than most fan projects.
Speaking of phisigma, I also listened to CJD-Phi take, which is a 12 record track that shows the progression of CJD in a day by day format. Not to mind it’s also experimental in its late stages.

the arts taught me how to run a business
I picked up The E-Myth Revisited on a recommendation from a family member. Said family member suggested it would help me understand what a business with solid fundamentals looks like, which in turn would make it easier to identify good stock picks.
The E-Myth Revisited is a quick and easy read; it's reasonably engaging, but it doesn't get too deep or technical.
What stood out to me, reading it during the same week I was running a marching band camp, is this: Running a well-ordered business is exactly the same thing as running a well-ordered marching band program.
It is EXACTLY the same thing. There are ZERO meaningful differences.

Meditation and Waking Up
I finished up the introductory course from Waking Up by Sam Harris this past week. I've made a few attempts at establishing a meditation practice over the pas few years, but this was by far my most extensive. I kept it up for all of two days when the course ended, and I think I'm stopping now. I was already doubting the practice while I was going through the course, so I'm not too surprised that it didn't last long.
What I hoped for was that practicing mindfulness would promote thoughtfulness during my day, but that didn't play out. What I struggle with is avoiding the things I need to do in favor of something like YouTube, then getting so absorbed that I waste a whole day to it. After a month plus of practice, I still wasn't paying attention when I avoided things.

Analog Updates: Op Amps and THAT
I'm continuing my studies in Operational Amplifiers: Theory and Practice by Roberg and Lundberg, and I made it through the first chapter. I've got some good notes on open loop gain and closed loop gain; inverting and non-inverting configurations and gain; unity gain buffers; integrators; and a few other things like diode equations.
So far, I am able to reproduce the various things I've learned about op amp gain on my analog computer. However, I tried to set up a log circuit with an open amplifier and a diode, but it is not working. I'll have to look into that some more.

Thoughts on Video Game Diegesis | Part 2
Welcome back. Yesterday I wrote about a couple examples of video games which circumvent an issue not by solving it, but by avoiding anything that might trigger it. This morning I came up with a name for that sort of design (though it likely already has one): prohibitive design. You are, in some sense, 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘩𝘪𝘣𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 your player from encountering a problem you know exists. This concept is crucial to diegetic design because it focuses on what you can reasonably do without breaking immersion. Knowing this, let's return to desktop gaming for an exploration of interactivity.

Even More Smolweb: Nightfall Postal Service
Continuing my adventure into simple smolweb protocols, I created a simple shell script server for the Nightfall Post Service (nps).
The cool thing about `nps` protocol is that there is only one rule:
- The last line of the message must be a single dot `.`
My server uses socat to listen to the port and can be run in either file upload mode or script mode.

netizen club webring
mavica created the netizen club webring, this is a webring focused on websites that are able to be viewed in older computers. See: https://netizen.club/webring.php
As we all know, the web has become mostly inaccessible for old computers.
