Richard Stallman (RMS) Talk in Ethereum Cypherpunk Congress Will be Remote
About a week ago we wrote about a confirmed upcoming talk by RMS [1, 2, 3] and we now understand that the talk will be done by stream, we assume from Boston, where RMS is based. That's not because he's afraid of Argentina, where he previously had his belongings stolen. "I would like to have a trip there," he told us, "but I won't be going there".
This past week RMS received lots of accolades online (we saw and captured several dozens) because people realised he had long predicted how programs that users control (or developers alter) themselves would one day be banned or prevented from running on the devices those users (or developers) own and paid for. █
"Stuff like this makes me believe Stallman was right and we (FOSS devs) should be all using a license that is even more aggressive [sic] than the GPL3." -A day ago by a developer (Matías N. Goldberg) responding to the "sideloading" canard at Google
