Days Without Slop About "Linux"
Since Christmas Day, i.e. about 2 days in a row now, we've seen (or caught) no LLM slop which targets "Linux" or something similar. Not in RSS feeds (OPML files are over 1,000 entries long), not in Google News either. Until this afternoon:
This slopfarm was the first in about two days. So that's quite an improvement, i.e. a meaningful reduction in volume or frequency.
Slopwatch more than a year ago was not complete, but back then BetaNews had the Serial Slopper Brian Fagioli, whose current platform is hardly touching anything other than slop (yes, slop about slop!) these days.
Let's hope that in 2026 not only will Slopwatch be a thing of the past (we buried it almost a month ago); we hope that all slop will be hard to produce, at the very least because providers of slop will go offline (for financial reasons).
Slopwatch was fun while it lasted. It's time to move on.
Apropos slop, not many articles here today because I am reading more of Bruce Schneier's latest book, which is all about slop.
One day we'll all look back at this idiotic hype and wonder how the media got away with it (it took money to participate in a pump-and-dump scheme, basically). █
