Still Lots of IBM Departures

My last working day at IBM and with it, I close one of the most meaningful chapters of my career.

Minutes ago:

After 4 years at IBM, yesterday was my last day with the team. Bittersweet moment leaving the amazing people at IBM Quantum. I'm sure I'll look back fondly at this time.

This morning we mentioned many "last days" at IBM and we're still seeing lots more, including the above. From what we can gather, the "silent layoffs" (as insiders call them) carry on, with some urged to go into retirement, some bullied into PIPs or similar (e.g. LPI, then MIS; think "low performer" - a label that can apply to around 40,000 current IBM staff).

In the "darkness" (lack of reporting and skirting of the WARN Act), lots of cuts can happen very fast.

Do not expect WARN notices from IBM; the management at IBM knows how to work around the law, but we also know from the staff union in Europe that the layoffs are definitely happening.

It's not that we lack evidence of IBM layoffs. It's just that we have ample evidence of the press not doing its job (or barely existing anymore). █
