Government seeks ‘tougher’ regulation of claims firms by SRA

In the future we'll also write about financial abuses [2] in the British legal profession, as it's in the news again this morning.

Last night: Several MPs Blast Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) for Inaction and Ineffective Action This Week

Last week (we spoke to Labour MPs about it): Escalating to Ministers, Explaining the Severity of These Matters

In 2024 and in 2025 we said that as soon as legal actions against us are over (Microsoft-connected Americans misusing processes in another continent!) we'd contact politicians to pursue much-needed reform by informing the public as well as well-meaning politicians.

Our words were not empty promises. This month we speak to Labour MPs (some LibDems also) and this week we see several actions, which will be followed by more.

The "legal industry" is due for "some reckoning". A culture of "mass litigation" is inherently damaging to our already-weak economy. It's worse when we allocate the tax money of British people to Americans with vengeance and hatred of British publishers. █

Related/contextual items from the news:

  1. Government seeks ‘tougher’ regulation of claims firms by SRA

Justice minister Sarah Sackman has confirmed she recently met with the Solicitors Regulation Authority and Financial Conduct Authority to address risks to consumers in the high-volume consumer claims market.

  2. SRA warns of potential cost to profession of role in ILCA scheme

Solicitors may be faced with higher costs if the government wants the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) involved in managing an Interest on Lawyers’ Client Accounts scheme (ILCA), it has warned.

The regulator also said it may have to ban firms from being able to agree arrangements to hold money outside of a client account.
