Microsoft Lunduke is 'Pulling a Garrett' by Turning Technical and Legal Debate Over Rust Into a 'Trans Debate'
Minutes ago:
![[Not technical] Remember the security firm that Ubuntu hired to audit the (ill-advised, highly buggy) Rust-rewrites of all of the GNU Coreutils?](/i/2026/05/straw-man.png)
He's doing it again.
We already responded to Microsoft Lunduke regarding this sort of modus operandi in: The Real Problem With Rust is Not "Wokeness" (It Never Was)
Let's state again some of the real problems:
- limited platform support
- compliance issues
- security holes
- compatibility
- licence
- performance
- Microsoft control
There are more. Rust in Ubuntu is a bad thing, just like slop in Ubuntu is a bad thing. This has nothing to do with someone's politics, but Microsoft Lunduke promotes particular politics under the guise of "let's talk about tech" (which he does not truly care about). It's bait. It's a straw man. Don't fall for the demagogue. █
