The 'Church' of Moglen/Stallman
Richard Stallman, the programmer who started the Free Software movement in the early 1980s, might have a 'reunion' with Eben Moglen some time soon. We cannot divulge the details just yet, but disclosure of the mere plan - a plan to have them both in tandem - probably does not cross the line.
35 years ago Moglen recalled what Stallman said when he found out about the growing threat of software patents. They spoke together, collaborated, and of course worked in the same board for many years.
20 years ago when this site was set up (WordPress was vastly lighter at the time) by Shane he told me that Moglen was a hero to him. He loved his talks very much and they inspired him, as a teacher based in the US. They're both American teachers.
Moglen is still giving good talks [1, 2]; one impediment to such public engagement is health problems. Moglen also spent years on defensive litigation and we can relate. People who challenge power (such as GAFAM) won't be left alone. There's infinite budget devoted to discrediting critics and bribing scholars. █
