Controlling One's Platform

This site has been an independent community voice site since its inception 20 years ago and that remains the same this year. It is not subjected to outside interference, only attempts thereof.
Over a decade ago some very high-profile celebrities and TV presenters (personalities) created blogs and attempted to establish not just online presence but also following there. It seldom worked because people were increasingly herded into social control media and actively discouraged from using RSS feeds to directly follow people they liked. As a result, "famous" people could barely liberate themselves from "Establishment" limbs like Hollywood's, the BBC's, and so on. Their mouths were plastered over and connected to the "MSM teat".
If they had something critical to say and if they pursued "mass audience", then they had to go through the filters of mainstream media or social control media. [sic]
Discouraged or suppressed speech is not free speech. Self-censorship or "algospeak" produces not people's genuine expressions but tone-policed sound bytes.
We need to strive for or actively pursue a Web where everyone has their own platform/s and where censors ("moderators") have no direct control over these platforms. We came close to that 20+ years ago with blogging. GAFAM pushed us all further and further away from it. GAFAM wants centralisation, wherein the "Centre" is the billionaires. █
